Final Hostage Ran Gvili Recovered
After 843 days, Ran Gvili's remains have been returned to Israel.
The night of January 19, 2026 a Russian bomb landed within meters (yards) of the Great Choral Synagogue of Odesa. The explosion caused damage to the main synagogue, blowing out windows and doors. One security guard was injured and is receiving medical care. Built in 1840, the Great Choral Synagogue of Odessa has withstood pogroms, the First and Second World Wars, and decades of Communist repression. It will, G-d willing, withstand this act of Russian aggression as well—and it will once again be vibrant, active, and thriving.
