The IDF launched a 15th wave of strikes against Iran, targeting a senior regime commander believed to be hiding in underground bunkers in Tehran. The Jerusalem Post reports that the IDF is currently examining the results of the strikes to determine whether any officials were eliminated.
Senior officials of the Islamic regime—including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed nearly a week ago—had been using these underground bunkers as military command centers. Additional targets in Isfahan were also struck.
Concurrently with the IDF’s announcement, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that targets in the city of Qom, south of Tehran, had also been hit.
An hour after the Israeli military’s confirmation of the commencement of its newest round of strikes, it stated that, during its strikes in Tehran, it had targeted “a senior Iranian terror regime commander in Tehran,” without naming the commander.
The military’s announcements came hours after it had confirmed striking former Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei’s underground bunker in Tehran.
The IDF moved quickly to destroy the bunker, which could have served as a major command post for coordinating attacks against Israel. The strike was carried out by 50 Israeli Air Force aircraft. Clandestine IDF units helped provide intelligence that led to the bunker’s destruction.
