Shulchan: Gathering Around the Table

Wisdom has built her house;
     she has set up its seven pillars.
she has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
     she has also set her table. — Proverbs 9:1-2

Every home, whether humble or opulent, has a table for dining. It is a most basic household item allowing inhabitants to eat meals and sustain life. In this month’s Limmud, we will learn that this most commonplace of elements in our home has the capacity to be so much more. Through our tables, we can achieve holiness when we use it as a vehicle to perform acts of kindness. It is a place around which we can increase our awareness of God and bring blessings to the world. Join us as we learn how to elevate our tables from the physical into the spiritual, and in doing so, bring more meaning into our daily lives.
