Over the past few days, the IDF has carried out strikes and raids against Hezbollah terrorists as well as operatives from the Jamaa Islamiya terror group. The Jerusalem Post reports that the IDF has confirmed the elimination of Ahmad Ali Salami, Hezbollah’s head of artillery, in southern Lebanon. Another Hezbollah terrorist was also eliminated, and a senior member of Jamaa Islamiya was apprehended in the same area.
The military, in a separate strike, killed a Hezbollah terrorist in the Ayta ash-Shaab area of southern Lebanon. The terrorist was involved in gathering intelligence on IDF soldiers operating in the region, as well as operating to rehabilitate Hezbollah’s terrorist infrastructure.
Additionally, IDF troops carrying out a targeted raid on a structure in southern Lebanon apprehended a senior operative from the Jamaa Islamiya – a Sunni Islamist group linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The suspect was transferred to Israeli territory for questioning, and weapons were located in the same building, according to the IDF.
The army said the operation followed intelligence indications gathered in recent weeks.
The IDF has stated that terror activity near Israel’s border constitutes a violation of understandings with Lebanon, noting that troops in the area have been repeatedly threatened. This is not limited to Israel’s northern border. Yesterday, the IDF intercepted terrorists attempting to smuggle a dozen pistols via drone across the eastern border.
Even as U.S.–Iran talks are underway and the Board of Peace is expected to present a plan for Gaza soon, the terror threats Israel faces on all sides remain very real. The Fellowship and our supporters are grateful for the vigilance of the IDF and continue to pray for them.
