Earlier this month, The Fellowship and the Association for Israel’s Soldiers’ Welfare held an event for active duty IDF troops from the Nahal Brigade. This unit has been through over two years of continuous fighting in Gaza. As their mission nears an end with the expected phase two of the ceasefire, these combat soldiers can take a break and receive food, rest, and recognition for their dedication to defending the Holy Land. The Fellowship also sponsors Nahal Brigade’s Granite Battalion through the Adopt-A-Battalion program.
Fellowship Soldier Appreciation Trucks arrived with hot meals, drinks, and snacks for the weary troops. Music played over speakers as they were also able to enjoy games and rest. The Fellowship also set up tents that provided lounging space. After a long and hard period on the battlefield, this helped renew energy and boost morale.
Today, the brave men and women of the Nahal Brigade are working to destroy terror tunnel networks in Gaza. The Nahal group in Israel combines military service and community service and is set to resume serving agriculture settlements near Gaza, which was the Brigade’s original intention when it was established in 1982.
The smiles of restoration and reinvigoration were undeniable on the faces of these soldiers. Some of these brave souls are lone soldiers, fighters full of heart but no family. The Fellowship supports and focuses our efforts on these individuals to not just help them meet their needs but let them know that they are not alone. In fact, simply providing a community space where they can be themselves outside of the call of duty can go a long way.
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8).
