Project Spotlight: Helping Wounded IDF Soldiers
The Fellowship | July 24, 2024
The Fellowship is helping bring care and aid to the brave Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers who’ve been wounded during service by partnering with the IDF Disabled Veterans Organization.
We are helping the young heroes who are committed to protecting Israel during this fight against Hamas in Operation Swords of Iron. Sadly, some have been critically wounded and need rehab and recovery and a hospital stay. So we are providing for their basic needs during this time, so they can give their full attention to healing and regaining their strength!
Recently, Yael made a stop at Tel Aviv’s Sheba Medical Center where some soldiers are recovering. She delivered hospital kits to help them through their stay at the hospital. And The Fellowship is also assisting about 350 injured IDF soldiers at home by providing basic needs, such as clothing, footwear, furniture, food, and groceries.
One of the soldier’s Yael visited was Noa…
“I didn’t think twice before going to the [IDF] reserves. It is an honor to defend my country so that the horrors of October 7 will not be repeated again,” says 26-year-old Noa, who’s been serving in the reserves on and off after October 7.
She’s a non-commissioned staff officer and was located near Israel’s northern Lebanese border where Hezbollah rockets fall daily. She was in an assembly area when a Hezbollah drone that wasn’t intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome exploded right near her. Twelve soldiers including Noa were injured. And Noa has been hospitalized since June.
“Slowly, but surely, my condition is improving. At first, I couldn’t walk; I was very dependent on people. I now appreciate things I didn’t appreciate before—brushing my hair, walking, eating, or drinking,” she says.
“Fortunately, I am recovering very quickly, and in another week and a half I will be released. I arrived at the hospital with nothing. The hospital kit with the supplies that The Fellowship is providing is very important for the wounded. It provides the necessary materials for the beginning of the hospitalization and rehabilitation process.”
Thanks to you, our Fellowship friends around the world, wounded IDF soldiers like Noa have the care and supplies they need to recover!
