The entire nation of Israel is on high alert for potential attacks by Iran and its terror proxies as tensions rise between the regime and the United States, despite ongoing talks aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear program and the development of weapons capable of reaching Israel. While the next round of talks is scheduled for Thursday, the United States and Iran continue to trade threats of escalation as U.S. forces assemble in the Middle East. The Fellowship and our partners in Israel have wasted no time preparing emergency response aid should tensions escalate.
United Hatzalah is The Fellowship’s partner in first response during emergencies. Last year, we provided a grant that funded 1,000 pieces of protective equipment, including bulletproof vests and helmets for these volunteers responding to terror attacks, criminal incidents, and life-threatening accidents. In preparation for potential escalation, United Hatzalah has readied emergency response vehicles (also provided by The Fellowship), fully stocked with medical kits and prepared to respond to any type of call.
“With your support of The Fellowship, the ongoing support, we are able to equip our volunteers, the men and women of Israel, with lifesaving equipment and protective gear. Bulletproof vests and helmets to safeguard our volunteers as they’re out there saving lives on the front lines in these emergency vehicles,” said United Hatzalah VP of Operations Dovie Maisel.
Emergencies can also cut people off from essential supplies and utilities. Our partner in poverty relief, ESHEL Chabad, has prepared food packages for immediate distribution. Fellowship staff were onsite helping assemble hundreds of aid boxes and loading them into vans. These boxes are filled with essentials such as tuna, chicken, and vegetables. IFCJ staff have already begun delivering them to elderly Israelis who are unable to leave their homes.
In the face of a possible crisis, The Fellowship does not wait. We and our partners act immediately, keeping the security and essential needs of the Jewish people at the forefront. This level of readiness would not be possible without our generous donors, for whom United Hatzalah and ESHEL Chabad extend their deepest thanks.
“Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble” (Psalm 119:165).
