In the past month, The Fellowship donated five Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulances to southern Syria for Druze medical teams. The vehicles had been decommissioned from service but have found new purpose in strengthening medical care and emergency response in Christian communities.
The ambulances did not arrive empty. Each one included Fellowship-provided medical kits—the same kits we send to first responders in Israel and Ukraine during times of crisis.
Fellowship staff and MDA EMTs attended a ceremony to commemorate the donation. MDA personnel also trained local Druze responders on how to use the new medical equipment and apply first-aid techniques in order to provide the best possible emergency care to persecuted Christians and Druze.
“The Fellowship is a lived partnership, Christians standing with Jews in Israel, and that partnership carries responsibility,” said our President and Global CEO Yael Eckstein. “The Druze community is an inseparable part of Israel’s society and security, and when Druze and Christian communities just across our border are targeted for their faith, indifference is not an option. This initiative reflects who we are, acting together to protect life, uphold dignity, and offer hope.”
MDA President Gilad Erdan said that the national emergency organization’s obligation and sacred mission of saving lives extend beyond Israel’s borders. The Fellowship’s efforts are not isolated—they are part of a deeper bond between Israel and the religious minority communities of Druze and Christians in Syria. The IDF, which also assisted with the ambulance transfer, has provided aid and arms to the Druze community during this time.
“Magen David Adom operates with a deep commitment to the supreme value of saving lives, without distinction of religion, nationality, or border,” said MDA Director General Eli Bin. “This reflects the values that have guided MDA since its establishment 95 years ago – professionalism, compassion, knowledge sharing, and human responsibility – values that continue to guide the organization today.”
