Summer is wrapping up and children in Israel – as around the world – are heading back to school. Olim (immigrant) children are no exception as they prepare to receive an education in their new homeland. But these kids may struggle to fit in their new school and may not even have funds for basic school supplies. The Fellowship funds two programs to help olim children get off to a strong start this school year – and feel good about it too.

The first is for summer camps for olim children. Students heading into first to sixth grade can receive the special preparation they need to transition into their courses and learn Hebrew in special classes held over the summer.

The second provides school supplies and bags to children and families that could not afford them. Many olim come to Israel with not a lot of money for necessities for their new everyday life. Fellowship staff recently distributed school bags to 40 olim children.

A child’s right to an education is not guaranteed in every country. The Fellowship prides itself on helping Israeli children to have access and the proper tools for a great education in the Holy Land alongside their Jewish brothers and sisters.
