Warming Alla and Irina’s Temporary Home
The Fellowship | February 20, 2025
Elderly Alla and her daughter and caretaker Irina use a small electric heater, carrying it from room to room. Both women are temporarily located in Jerusalem after their home in Kiryat Shmona came under constant shelling from Lebanon in 2023.
No wonder Alla was so happy to receive a warm blanket as part of The Fellowship’s Winter Warmth program. It’s heartwarming to see how tenderly Alla and Irina care for each other – and how The Fellowship steps in to support them, ensuring they don’t feel alone in their temporary location far from home.
Alla is a Holocaust survivor, so the events of October 7, 2023, and the ongoing war are upsetting. On top of this, their home has been damaged by bombs and so has Irina’s dentistry practice. So as Irina works to make their house in Kiryat Shmona livable again and also deals with the devastation of her dental practice, this help from The Fellowship feels like a lifeline. It’s thanks to Fellowship friends around the world that these two women are receiving the help they need amid crisis in Israel.
