Soon after U.S. President Donald Trump’s Sunday deadline of a ceasefire was announced, Hamas released a statement saying that it intends to release all the hostages to keep negotiations alive and possibly launch talks of ending the war in Gaza. The Jerusalem Post reports that while the leader of Hamas said it would take longer than the proposed 72 hours to deliver all hostages, the terror group is in favor of the conditions outlined in Trump’s proposal.

Hamas gave mediators its response to US President Donald Trump’s plan for ending the Gaza war earlier Friday evening.

Hamas also said that it would approve transferring the power of the Gaza Strip over to a Palestinian governing body that would be elected “based on Palestinian national consensus and with Arab and Islamic support.”

Marzouk promised the handover of power would come with the transfer of weapons from Hamas to the future Palestinian rulers.

We praise God for the prospect that after two years, the hostages who have endured so much will be able to return home and see their families again – and we pray it comes to pass.

“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
