Israeli forces are investigating a terror attack at the Allenby Crossing on the Israel-Jordan border that was carried out by a Jordanian humanitarian aid truck driver. The Jerusalem Post reports that two IDF soldiers were killed in the attack, one 20 years old, the other 60. The terrorist was killed by an Allenby Crossing security guard. Sources also told The Jerusalem Post that there may be an additional accomplice.
The aid truck driver began firing on people in the area after crossing the border into Israel from Jordan. In the wake of the attack, the IDF has decided to halt aid entering Gaza from Jordan until the ongoing investigation is completed.
The other routes for bringing humanitarian aid into Gaza will continue as usual.
About 2,000 aid trucks enter Gaza every week in total, but only about 150 of them come through the Allenby Crossing from Jordan, Army Radio said, citing security officials.
The Allenby Bridge is a crucial crossing for trade between Jordan and Israel.
This also comes after a shooting attack at the same crossing in September that killed three, with a terrorist also using an aid truck to access the Israeli border. Terror doesn’t discriminate, even targeting those trying to provide aid to those who need it in affected areas.
