In July, The Fellowship approved a grant to fund a transportation vehicle for elderly residents of Shlomi, a small community in northern Israel with a population of around 8,500, located just miles from the border with Lebanon.

This vehicle helps them attend doctor’s appointments and therapy sessions and make grocery trips. Now, elderly Israelis face a growing health crisis—forced to remain in shelters or at home while medical offices close and caregivers are unable to reach them. The vehicle purchased through this grant has just been put into service.

Last month, Fellowship staff visited Shlomi and met some of the elderly residents benefiting from this much-needed service. In the event of an emergency, the vehicle can also transport them to a shelter. Even before the war with Iran, Hezbollah has posed a constant threat for more than 20 years, frequently launching rockets in the northern region.

In the aftermath of October 7, the community sustained extensive damage during the Gaza war and has been working to rebuild. The grant was approved at that time. Now, once again, Hezbollah threatens to disrupt their recovery. In response, The Fellowship continues to provide support through initiatives like this.

“Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord” (Leviticus 19:32)
