With the release of the hostages and the agreement to a peace deal in Gaza, Israel and the rest of the world are riding on a wave of renewed hope, peace, and stability. We pray that this hope reaches the war in Ukraine, as there are thousands of elderly Jews and families in need, just as there are in Israel. The former Soviet Union also continues to be one of the foremost regions where The Fellowship helps Jews make aliyah to Israel.
However, immigrating is Israel is often an expensive procedure wherein after they settle in, they may need assistance to afford the essentials. This can especially be the case for elderly Israelis spending the last of what they have on it. This is where The Fellowship’s With Dignity and Fellowship Program comes in.
This past week, The Fellowship delivered food and aid to Raisa and Tatiana –both 89 years old and from Ukraine’s and Russia’s capital cities respectively. They both have been living in Israel well before the war between their former home countries began, having moved in the late 80s and early 90s. Harsh anti-Semitism left a lasting impression on them, which ultimately led them to fulfill biblical prophecy.
“I believe in God, and I love people — whether they are Jews, Christians, or Muslims — as long as they are faithful and kind,” Raisa says. “I feel the support of millions of Christians, and I thank all of them for caring about me. I’m just one old woman, but I feel the love and care.”
Tatiana is also especially moved by the support she receives from The Fellowship and the millions of Christians who stand with her. “The help we receive touches me deeply,” she says. “Where would I be without this support? How would I survive?”
Raisa and Tatiana, living in Israel, show the beauty of being in God’s Covenant. It matters not where you’re from, even if they are two nations at war, we’re all part of the promise that He made to his people.
“Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” (Genesis 9:16).
