With two weeks left until the annual Flags of Fellowship movement, staff in Israel are already helping churches prepare to memorialize the victims and those affected by the attacks of October 7, 2023, with a message of unity through faith and hope. Last week, our President and Global CEO Yael Eckstein joined Fellowship staff for a visit to Nazareth’s Banias Church for a Flags of Fellowship event. The event was covered by Newsmax and i24NEWS.
Fellowship staff helped church volunteers and community members place 1,200 Israeli flags before Yael spoke about how Christian communities around the world are choosing to stand with the Jewish people. Other speakers included Israel’s Special Envoy to the Christian World George Deek, Israeli Christian Aramaic Association President Shadi Khaloul, and Israel365 President Rabbi Tuly Weisz. The Christians of Nazareth came to pray at the church, with the Lord’s Prayer sung by the Armenian Christian Association’s children’s and youth choir.
Since the first Flags of Fellowship in 2024, the movement has grown into a powerful annual expression of solidarity. If our goal of more than 2,500 participants is reached this year, we will plant a total of 3 million Israeli flags—more than twice as many as last year. In the days leading up to October 7, we invite churches, synagogues, universities, and businesses to come together with us in hope, remembrance, and support.
“The Lord said, ‘If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them’” (Genesis 11:6).
