Even three years after the Swords of Iron War began, northern Israel remains in dire need of healing and rebuilding, as residents say life in the region is no longer what it once was. With many institutions and critical infrastructure still reeling from attacks and threats posed by Hamas and Iran-backed terror groups, daily life has yet to return to its previous level of security and stability. The Fellowship is helping address these ongoing needs through the approval of a Rehabilitating the North grant.
This grant was awarded to the Shinua Hevrati (Social Delivery) organization to help strengthen the economic security of at-risk families who have endured so much. Essentials such as hygiene products, clothing, mattresses, and textiles are being delivered to these communities to help families rebuild their lives. The grant also aids businesses, equipping them with furniture, office equipment, and electrical appliances. In addition, it will help strengthen community resilience by providing essential supplies to schools, youth clubs, and senior centers.
The first deliveries are already on their way, with pallets and boxes filled with these much-needed essentials. The Fellowship approved this grant following a staff trip to northern Israel earlier this month, during which staff visited Fellowship-supported projects throughout the region. They were joined by our President and Global CEO, Yael Eckstein, beginning the day at Kibbutz Manara along the Lebanese border. During the visit, The Fellowship donated emergency equipment kits to members of the local emergency response team.
Yael and staff then visited three additional locations. At an elderly care home near Tel Hai, they donated much-needed care equipment. They then visited the Kiryat Shmona Command Center, where The Fellowship provided a new security vehicle and firefighting trailer. Finally, they traveled to the Nof HaGalil Absorption Center, where they distributed school supplies to Bnei Menashe children as they prepared to begin their first school year in Israel.
Rebuilding northern Israel is not a one-time task. It is an ongoing, multi-stage process that requires continued collaboration and support. The Fellowship could not be part of this vital work without our donors.
“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations” (Isaiah 61:4).
