Our President and Global CEO Yael Eckstein is featured in an article from Herald and News on how this conflict with Iran is different from what Israel has faced in the past, and how support for the Holy Land has been reinforced:
“It’s the first time all of us are under attack,” Eckstein said.
She said the U.S./Israel war with Iran is being felt all across the country not just areas bordering Lebanon or Gaza.
Many of the Iranian missiles have been intercepted by defense systems. But there have been strikes against Israeli cities.
The war has prompted school and business closures. Eckstein said home health care workers can’t make it out to help seniors, who have mobility and food access issues.
That’s prompted IFCJ, which frequently advertises on Christian and conservative news cable networks in the U.S., to offer help for seniors with food stocks and access to bomb shelters.
“The biggest needs right now are for the elderly,” Eckstein said. “We have elderly in their homes alone, without anyone who can go shopping for them, without anyone who can do cooking for them.”
Part of the Fellowship’s efforts involve working with Israeli municipalities to find places where seniors can stay and have access to food and safety.
The group has also been issuing food cards to families displaced by the war, as well as emergency responders and rescue workers so they can buy groceries.
Eckstein said IFCJ distributed $6 million in aid during the first two weeks of the Iran war.
