You Provide Hope in War-Torn Ukraine

Before the war in Ukraine, Haya and her husband were hardworking people, supporting their four children. They bought a small apartment in the city of Zhytomyr, Ukraine. When the war broke out, they did consider leaving, but in the end, they decided to stay in Zhytomyr. And it has been challenging.
Haya says: “Our lives changed completely on February 24. War is living in constant stress and tension. We don’t know what to expect and what the future holds for us.”
And when we visited her home to drop off some food and provide support, she was shocked that Fellowship staff and volunteers were coming to visit in a war zone with alarms sounding. “I really appreciate that The Fellowship has accompanied us during the war,” says Haya, “and that you have come to our home even now and you are not afraid of the alarm in the city… We can’t do too much more except to believe in God.”
During the last years of war, The Fellowship and our partners on the ground in Ukraine have helped to deliver food boxes, medicine for the children, vouchers for household equipment and warm clothes for the winter. “The [Jewish] community also gives us mental support,” explains Haya, “and a place where we can come and always feel at home.”
As the family hopes and prays that the war will end soon, at least they have The Fellowship. “We are believing Jewish people, and I am so moved to know that there are so many believing Christians who support us and help us in this difficult time. We appreciate what you do for us. It is not something that can be taken for granted,” adds Haya.
