Just before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, The Fellowship visited Esther in Tzfat, Israel, delivering food as she took shelter from the ongoing rocket fire from Lebanon. Esther is an 88-year-old Holocaust survivor, who remembers being sent to a concentration camp during World War II. Once again, she faces enemies who wish to kill her. But she has hope because today she has The Fellowship.

“During the past year, because of the current war, my life here in Tzfat is very unstable. There are shootings and bombings that happen here several times per day. People wander from place to place to find a secure space to stay,” says Esther of being displaced due to war.

“I decided that after almost a year I wanted to come home. I came back to Tzfat, and with the escalating situation, got here to the shelter,” she explains as rockets from Hezbollah threaten her safety on this sacred time of year, the High Holy Days.

But even though they must shelter, she knows they are not alone: “We have amazing people here who are taking care of us. It gives me confidence and a good feeling not to be alone on these challenging days.”

“I especially want to thank The Fellowship team who came to Tzfat during these crazy and dangerous days to bring us food, and what is most important, the feeling that you care about us, and that we are all together… Thank you all and Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year)!”

Your gift today will provide basic needs and lifesaving help for God’s children, like Esther, in Israel and around the world.
