‘God Protected Me’
The Fellowship | June 18, 2025
Rima grew up learning that her grandmother’s entire family perished in the Holocaust. So she always wanted to find a way to live in her homeland, and when she finally did immigrate from Ukraine to Israel, she felt like she was finally home.
But just recently, when an Iranian missile struck her neighborhood in Bat Yam, she was in shock and disbelief to see such destruction and chaos hit her neighborhood.
“On the night of the [Iranian] attack, we went to sleep. At 3 a.m., there was a siren. There is no shelter in the building, so I stayed sitting on the bed. The explosion was the scariest moment of my life…
“The intensity of the noise is indescribable. The whole house shook, and all the windows shattered. I think God protected me. Everything was full of ruins.”
Miraculously, Rima survived—but she had nowhere to go. And it was difficult to leave the damaged area to find food or support.
Thanks to Fellowship friends, we reached out to Rima amid the destruction and chaos of war with a lifeline—ready-made meals to get her through this crisis.
“I thank God for saving me. I am grateful to The Fellowship for reaching me despite the war… I don’t know how I would have survived this without their help.”
