1.9% of Israelis are Christian, and mainly live in the northern cities of Haifa, Shfar’am, and Nazareth. On New Year’s Day, Fellowship staff visited Afaf at her home in Shfar’am with a special gift for Christmas and the New Year. For almost a decade, she has been receiving support as a beneficiary in our With Dignity and Fellowship program.

Turning 90 this year, Afaf has lived in Israel her whole life. She dedicated her entire life to childhood education – teaching at the local kindergarten of her small Christian community. In her classroom, children weren’t just educated but cared for.

Today, all those children have lives and families of their own, and Afaf has retired. Things have been tough since then, with both her husband and son passing. Afaf isn’t completely alone, as she spent Christmas with her daughter in Haifa, and she lives with a caregiver, but the struggle to afford necessities after retiring is real.

We gave Afaf meaningful support – a shopping card so she can afford those necessities. She was deeply moved and sent heartfelt gratitude to The Fellowship and our generous donors who support Israel and her people – including Israel’s Christian communities. Afaf also wished everyone a very blessed New Year.

Our With Dignity and Fellowship program brought aid, support, and comfort to so many elderly people in Israel in 2025. Make 2026 a blessed year by giving to help elderly in need like Afaf.
