Ynet reports that Hamas resumed the search for the body of Ran Gvili in Gaza. IDF troops stationed in the area were able to see the terrorists from their side of the yellow line. This comes as Israel announced that the Rafah Border Crossing would remain closed until Gvili, the final remaining hostage, is returned. This would also mark the start of phase two of the ceasefire with the terror group.
Hamas sources said Gvili had been held by the organization for an extended period and was kept in the Zeitoun neighborhood for several months before the ceasefire. They claimed that “everyone who oversaw his captivity and everyone who knew his location was eliminated in separate operations.”
About three weeks ago, Israel passed information to mediators that could assist in locating Gvili. Terrorist organizations later claimed that all attempts to find him had failed.
Islamic Jihad said it had returned all hostages who were held by its operatives. Hamas sources said searches for Gvili were conducted at four locations where Israel believes his remains may be located, in the Shajaiyah and Zeitoun neighborhoods of eastern Gaza City.
St. -Sgt.- Maj Ran Gvili was working with the Border Police when he was killed by terrorists and abducted to Gaza on October 7. Israeli officials have asserted that the terror group knows his location and are stalling his return. Three weeks ago, Israel had relayed information to mediators that could have helped with locating Gvili, but this was rejected by Hamas.
The ceasefire continues to hold as the return of Gvili remains paramount. The Fellowship and our supporters pray for his family, who have continually advocated for his return. May they soon find the closure they deserve.
