“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,
they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
planted in the house of the LORD,
they will flourish in the courts of our God.
They will bear fruit in old age,
they will stay fresh and green,
proclaiming, “The LORD is upright;
he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.” (Psalm 92:12-15)

These palm trees line the waters of Kibbutz Degania Alef, the first such farming community established in the Holy Land. Settled in 1910 between the Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River, this kibbutz has long flourished. The second child to be born there was famed IDF General Moshe Dayan. And even today, more than 500 Israelis call the community their home. May its residents – and all residents of Israel – continue to flourish and continue to call our upright God their rock. Shabbat shalom, friends.
