“A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest” (Proverbs 6:10)

This Jewish child, born of Holocaust survivors after World War II, gets some sleep aboard a scrapped U.S. cruiser in 1947 christened “The Jewish State.” The ship was later named the Eilat and became the flagship of the early Israeli Navy. Both of these stories, of rescue after the Holocaust and of a nascent nation’s history, are stories that Stand for Israel will tell you. But for now, may your Shabbat be one of rest.
