The IDF reported striking and eliminating Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists over the past several days. According to The Jerusalem Post, Hamas terrorists were operating from a tunnel in Rafah, while Hezbollah operatives continue efforts to reestablish the group’s presence in the Hanin area of southern Lebanon. Israel stated that both groups have once again violated their respective ceasefire frameworks. Six Hamas terrorists and one Hezbollah operative were eliminated in the ensuing strikes.
The soldiers killed six terrorists in the latest operations on Sunday, in addition to the three killed during the encounter last week, the military confirmed.
The military said that over the past week, troops operating under the 91st Division eliminated three additional terrorists who it said were working to restore Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
It added that forces dismantled several structures and engineering vehicles that, according to the IDF, were used by Hezbollah to advance planned attacks in the area.
Last week, Hamas used the same tunnel in Rafah to cross the IDF’s Yellow Line. The terrorists opened fire on the 7th Armored Brigade. Soldiers returned fire, killing four of the attackers. Another operation was carried out this week to eliminate any remaining terrorists using the tunnels.
With the terror group’s intentions regarding disarmament still unclear, a senior Netanyahu aide has given Hamas 60 days to disarm or face a new offensive in Gaza. Meanwhile, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier urged Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah during a visit to Beirut.
