The Times of Israel reported that a cell of at least 18 Hamas terrorists attempted a raid on the IDF encampment in Khan Younis, which is in the southern Gaza Strip, on Wednesday morning. While IDF says the gunmen meant to kidnap Israeli soldiers, no IDF soldiers were kidnapped or killed, as they repelled the raid in under an hour, though three were wounded. 10 Hamas members were taken out, while the rest fled the scene via a tunnel they initially came through.
The wounded troops served with the Kfir Brigade’s Nahshon Battalion. One was seriously injured, and the other two are listed in good condition, according to the military.
The IDF said it was working to track down the remaining gunmen involved in the attack.
Hamas’s military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, took responsibility for the attack in a statement, claiming that its gunmen “stormed the site” and carried out a suicide bombing.
Hamas – known for making false, unsubstantiated claims – tells a different story, saying they were able to kill several Israeli soldiers. They also claimed the raid lasted for several hours, when it concluded in less than an hour, according to the official probe.
The IDF is calling the attack a rare and unusual incident with Hamas operatives mobilizing larger cells attempting to attack IDF posts and infrastructure. It also comes as the IDF is in the final stages of preparing for an offensive in Gaza City.
As attacks on Israel continue, The Fellowship continues to a be pillar of support for the brave souls in the IDF in the first line of defense, as well as supporting their families. It’s all thanks to our faithful and generous donors who have joined us in standing for Israel and her people.
