The IDF announced that troops discovered weapons and explosives in a school in West Bank in an incident that took place after terrorists attacked the settlement of Karmei Tzur near Bethlehem. The Jerusalem Post reports that the attackers were apprehended. No structures, including the school, were damaged.
According to the statement, about two weeks ago, two terrorists threw explosives and Molotov Cocktails at the West Bank settlement of Karmei Tzur. No one was injured as a result.
Following the attack, IDF soldiers apprehended the attackers, who were further transferred for further questioning by the [Shin Bet].
The IDF said that after interrogation, the suspects revealed the location of an explosives cache to be in a school in Beit Ummar, a town just kilometers north of Karmei Tzur.
A video released by the IDF shows members of the Kfir Brigade’s Nachshon Battalion at the school next to the cache, and a clip from above showing its detonation.
While the ceasefire with Iran has given way to talks this week and Lebanon prepares for its own, the IDF has continued local operations to thwart terrorism. The IDF also announced this as the Holy Land finishes observing Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, and switches over to Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day.
We are grateful for the success of troops serving in the IDF today and pray for their continued protection while we remember those who gave their lives to defend Israel –their beloved homeland.
