On January 6 of last year, terrorists carried out a shooting attack in Al Funduq that killed three Israelis and wounded eight others. The Jerusalem Post reports that the IDF and Shin Bet have apprehended an accomplice to those who planned and executed the attack. Muhammad Zidan has been identified as a senior figure in the Jenin terror network, which has both funded and carried out acts of terrorism in Israel.
Two terrorists were also identified on Thursday entering a building on Israel’s side of the Yellow Line, in violation of the ongoing ceasefire agreement, an IDF spokesperson said.
The terrorists were targeted by the Israeli Air Force, which successfully struck the terrorists.
Southern Command IDF forces are scattered throughout the region, and will continue to enforce the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the IDF spokesperson added.
The January 6 attack unfolded along Route 55, which runs through the northern West Bank. The terrorists first opened fire on passing vehicles, killing two 70-year-old women in one car and a 35-year-old man in another. They then fired at a bus traveling along the route, injuring eight additional people, including the driver, as Israeli vehicles were indiscriminately targeted.
Other counterterrorism operations conducted by the IDF this week include the apprehension of three terror operatives in the Jericho area. The Samaria Regional Brigade also uncovered weapon-manufacturers inside shops in Nablus; the equipment was confiscated and 30 terrorists were arrested.
While the Board of Peace looks to soon demilitarize Gaza, areas such as the West Bank remain a threat to Israel, with unchecked terror activity from both large and small groups seeking to harm Israelis. The IDF has been searching for the perpetrators of the January 6 shooting for more than a year. The Fellowship and our supporters pray for their continued vigilance as they protect the people of Israel.
