Iran continues to launch attacks across Israel, including at Tel Aviv, central Jerusalem, and the north. The Jerusalem Post reports that a missile launched by the regime was able to get past air defenses and hit the town of Zarzir, igniting and damaging homes. About 60 people were lightly injured by glass shards while a woman is reported to be in medical care recovering from injuries caused by shrapnel. No fatalities were reported after the attack last night.
President Isaac Herzog visited the impact site of a missile attack in the village of Zarzir on Friday.
“We are here in a Muslim village, which is a historic village, Zarzir,” said Herzog. “It is an incredible place here with Jews and Arabs from the entire region, with leaders and heads of council, Jews and Arabs together. It is an unbelievable sight. This is the real, true story of Israel. We are in all this together.”
Four homes were heavily damaged as well as the vehicles on the properties. Because Zarzir is a large settlement in the northern plains of Israel, the risk of fire is particularly high here. Firefighters were on the scene before the flames could spread to the surrounding wilderness. They also rescued people from burning homes and got them to shelter during the attacks. Only two of the injured people had to be taken to hospitals.
For northern Israeli communities like Zarzir, there is very little time to react to attacks while rockets must travel farther to reach other parts of the Holy Land.
