An Israeli Air Force helicopter crashed early Wednesday morning during a rescue attempt to evacuate a seriously injured soldier operating in Rafah. The Times of Israel reports that the helicopter crashed just prior to landing and killed two IDF soldiers and injured many more—including brave soldiers from Fellowship-supported Squadron 123:

According to an initial IAF probe, a UH-60 Black Hawk from the 123rd Squadron flew to Rafah with a Unit 669 medical team on Tuesday night to evacuate a combat engineer seriously wounded in fighting in the area.

During the final landing stage inside an Israeli army encampment in Rafah at around 12:30 a.m., the helicopter impacted the ground instead of touching down correctly.

The Fellowship is working to provide support to the injured soldiers and will also support the families of the fallen heroes in every way possible. We are especially thinking of the brave heroes from Squadron 123, who we’ve had a very strong partnership with throughout the years. We’ve provided ongoing support for them, and last year, these soldiers helped volunteer with the elderly for Sukkot.

This war is long, and many soldiers are losing their lives or dealing with difficult injuries. It’s important now more than ever to please pray for the brave men and women sacrificing so much—risking their own lives and spending weeks, sometimes months away from family and loved ones—to protect Israel in this brutal war against Israel’s enemies that surround her.
