The Fellowship gave a $1 million grant for the purchase of an MRI machine for the Yoseftal Medical Center in Eilat. This is a game changing grant, as there has never been an MRI machine in the city.

In the past, Eilat residents who needed an MRI image would have had to travel to the center of the country, which is both time consuming and expensive. For example, Ella had undergone seven cardiac catheterizations due to heart problems, which subsequently affected her kidney function. The doctors referred her for an MRI scan. She tried to find appointments across the country, but there was no availability.

Eventually, she secured an appointment after three months in Ashdod. Despite her medical condition, she had to take a flight and then a taxi to get to her appointment in Ashdod.

Ella needs an annual check-up and was already stressed, fearing she would have to travel far again. “When I heard about the new MRI machine, I immediately felt relieved. It greatly reduced my anxiety and worries before the exam. At my age, traveling long distances is very difficult, and I am thrilled to now receive treatment in my own city.”
