Project Spotlight: Importance of Aliyah
The Fellowship | November 27, 2024
Bishop Lanier and Fellowship staff visited France this year to learn more about the situation on the ground for the Jewish community. They learned that anti-Semitism is dramatically on the rise from the community members. Just last May, a local synagogue was set on fire by a terrorist, who threw a Molotov cocktail into the synagogue and was armed with a knife.
Natasha Ben Haim, president of the Jewish community of Rouen, has served in the position for six years, and says: “Since October 7, the Jewish community feels even more threatened. My son was attacked. I am afraid that my children have no future in France. Last May, the situation reached the peak of violence when an attacker arrived armed with a knife and set fire to the synagogue.”
The work of The Fellowship is so important: “I really appreciate the visit of The Fellowship with Bishop Lanier. The support of the Christian community is very important, and they encourage us during these difficult days.”
Thankfully, we continue to bring Jewish people home from France, and anywhere around the world facing unrest and anti-Semitic attacks, so they can live freely as Jews in their homeland.
