Project Spotlight: Golden Age Night Shelters

Golden Age Night Shelter

During the first week of the war with Iran, The Fellowship provided beds for public bomb shelters in Tel Aviv as the city came under rocket fire and elderly residents were forced to leave their homes for safety. 89-year-old Meir was one of the first to receive one. From that moment, Fellowship staff knew this would be a successful pilot program.

As a result, The Fellowship is expanding the Golden Age Night Shelter initiative by purchasing 100 additional beds and distributing them to shelters across Israel.

With support from the Ministry of Welfare, The Fellowship has already equipped shelters in Beit Shemesh, Kiryat Motzkin, Ofakim, Yokne’am, Rehovot, Yerucham, Tirat Carmel, and Ashdod. This effort is ongoing, with additional Golden Age Night Shelters planned for more cities and communities in northern and central Israel—areas that have been relentlessly impacted by strikes.

Golden Age Night Shelters do more than provide a safe place to sleep. Fellowship staff also offer companionship and support to elderly individuals whose families or caregivers cannot reach them. In addition, staff provide transportation to and from the shelters once the all-clear has been given.

Thanks to our generous donors, we are able to bring relief and hope to elderly Israelis and their families. This is just one of The Fellowship’s many efforts during this conflict to enhance the safety and care of some of the most vulnerable members of God’s people.

“For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe” (Psalm 61:3).
