In March, The Fellowship approved the purchase of 100 emergency repair kits for the volunteer organization, Yedidim. The distribution event took place on June 17 at the Yedidim Logistic Center in Petah Tikva. The repair kits are designed for mending malfunctions in bomb shelters and other protected spaces during emergencies.

Every year, Yedidim touches the lives of 3,500 children, teens, and young adults through 120 Israeli communities. This is part of their mission to make sure that young people across the Holy Land are given opportunities and realize their full potential. Like United Hatzalah and other partners of The Fellowship, this organization also leads rescue efforts when Israel has come under attack – sometimes even being the first responders. In those situations, these kits can make all the difference.

Yonah Engel, the director of volunteer training, says, “When you receive help from different people throughout your life, and you’re given the opportunity to go and volunteer and help others, and Yedidim gave me that platform that was able to help beyond what I even thought – it’s very rewarding,”

Engel recalls that the days after October 7 saw the highest number of emergency calls he ever experienced. People were calling in with help getting into their bomb shelters since many did not know how to open the doors or they were stuck shut. The new emergency repair kits will help resolve issues such as this.

The kits include a jack for raising vehicles and debris, a crowbar for prying open blocked doors, and heavy-duty screwdrivers.

“Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help” (Psalm 22:11).
