The Fellowship has been assisting with emergency preparedness efforts in Israel. From food banks to medical centers, we and our partners are taking every precaution as U.S. action on Iran appears increasingly likely. The Fellowship is working to ensure that every community is prepared for an emergency—including our friends in the Druze community.

Daliyat al-Karmel, near Haifa, is the largest Druze town in Israel, with a population of more than 18,000. One of the many mobile bomb shelters The Fellowship has distributed across Israel has been provided to this community. It is a specialized Arbel shelter, featuring steel doors that lock from the inside and reinforced walls strong enough to withstand missile attacks.

“During last summer, we had a lot of missiles from Iran,” said Head of the Local Council Rafik Halabi. “It was really a very, very hard and unsecure situation. We needed a lot of protection, and we got it from The Fellowship, the Christians from the United States, who gave us this mobile shelter. Because we have no safe rooms even in our city, and it’s a very large city. I want to thank you.”

Druze towns and villages often lack bomb shelters and other essential emergency response infrastructure. In many cases, they are nonexistent, as in Daliyat al-Karmel. Rafik says the days have been uncertain since the 12-Day War last year, but the addition of the mobile bomb shelter marks the beginning of a new chapter of security for the city.

“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act” (Proverbs 3:27).
