The Fellowship funds security measures for Jewish schools in Ukraine and throughout the former Soviet Union. Today, we received this report from one of our partners about how those security measures – and God’s protective hand – helped one of those schools survive a drone attack:

The “Perlyna” Jewish school in Kyiv, Ukraine, has operated continuously since the beginning of the war and serves as a central anchor for the Jewish community in the city.

Tonight, it suffered a direct hit from a Russian drone. The strike, which occurred a few hours before the start of the school day, caused significant damage to the building, but the school’s window system, equipped with protective film provided by The Fellowship, prevented more serious damage.

The Rabbi of Kyiv, Rabbi Jonathan Markovitch, and his wife Ina, arrived at the scene accompanied by police representatives and officials to assess the damage and plan alternatives for the continuation of studies.

“A huge miracle happened: the students were not in the building at the time of the explosion. The light of the Torah and Jewish education in Kyiv will not be extinguished,” said Rabbi Markovitch. “Just as the school continued to operate throughout the war, we will continue to enlighten the souls of our children even in these difficult days.”

Ilya Goldberg, Head of Security for Jewish Communities in Ukraine, said, “We are working tightly with the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews to secure the location of Jewish communities, to provide them with the security measures that they need. As you can see, all the window glass that shattered stayed outside of the building. Thanks to the plastic film we had stuck to the windows a few years ago, none of the shattered glass went inside.”

May God bless all of our generous supporters who are helping to save lives in this war-torn region of the world.
