The relationship between Israel and America goes beyond politics. It is providential.

Is America in prophecy? Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Clearly, God has blessed the United States of America. For many reasons that we could mention, the hand of God’s favor and blessing has been upon us. I believe a primary reason is America’s support for Israel, God’s chosen people. It’s clear in chapter 12 of Genesis that God chooses to bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who curse Israel.

God picked an elderly man He renamed Abraham to be the patriarch of the Jewish people, and they made a covenant together: “On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, ‘To your offspring I give this land …’”

This promise, made millennia ago, is a stronger covenant than the Constitution of the United States. It is a greater document than the Declaration of Independence. It is a covenant between God and man.

You will never understand the Bible fully until you understand what God is doing through His people, Israel, and how God has worked in the life of Israel and in the nations of the world through His own people that He has chosen for Himself.

Despite centuries of persecution, the Jewish people have survived. Driven from their homeland, they were scattered to the ends of the earth. But in God’s timing, Israel was restored as a nation.

The restoration of the people of Israel to their homeland, never to be dispersed again, is not just a historic event, in our modern history, but a remarkable fulfillment of Biblical prophecy before our very eyes.

In Zechariah 12:2–3, the Bible says, “Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. … On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.”
