Situated on Israel’s northern border with Lebanon is the town of Metula, once a popular summer tourist destination. But since the Iron Swords War—and now with the conflict involving Iran leading to increased Hezbollah terrorist missile fire—Metula has become a battleground.
During the Iron Swords War, The Fellowship delivered 13 armored vehicles to communities on the Israeli-Lebanon border under fire from Hezbollah. Now, as Hezbollah attacks again, these vehicles like the one in Metula are helping save lives.
“We are here right on the Lebanese border,” said Director-General and Security Officer of Metula Ricki Gino said, “You can see the villages behind me, some of which are devastated by the long months of fighting that took place here … [Hezbollah] are actually launching unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and missiles at us.
“The Local Authority is implementing and preparing for this type of emergency scenario, and with the help of the protected vehicle which we received from The Fellowship as a donation, we are able to do it better and safer.”
These vehicles play an essential role in reaching citizens moments after an attack, or even during. “Thank you very much to the friends in The Fellowship, and we hope for better and safer days,” said Metula social worker Gabriela.
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7).
