Let’s Walk with God Every Day
As people of faith, we often use the expression “walking with God.” But what does walking with God really mean?

Episode Notes:
The Bible verses that we reflect on come from Deuteronomy 19:8-9. In this passage, Moses tells the Israelites that if they love and obey God, He will enlarge the territory of Israel:
“If the LORD your God enlarges your territory, as he promised on oath to your ancestors, and gives you the whole land he promised them, because you carefully follow all these laws I command you today—to love the LORD your God and to walk always in obedience to him—then you are to set aside three more cities.”
In today’s episode, Yael focuses on one phrase in these verses. When Moses describes the ideal behavior that will lead God to enlarge Israel, he says “to walk always in obedience to him.” Clearly, walking in God’s ways is an important concept in the Bible. But what does it really mean? How is it even possible to walk with God in the first place, since God is spiritual and we are physical?
The answer, according to Jewish tradition, is that in the physical sphere, two things become close by virtue of their proximity to each other—by being physically close. But in the spiritual realm, two things become close by virtue of their similarity to one another.
In this powerful episode, Yael reflects on how it’s important to be similar to God—to follow in His footsteps, to be kind to one another, and to treat people the way we would like to be treated—if we truly want to walk in His ways and draw closer to Him each day of our lives.
