United in Faith – An Eternal Covenant
Throughout history, Christians have supported Israel and the Jewish people. But why?
What is it about our two faiths that creates this connection?
The answer lies in understanding how Christianity and Judaism are united through God's eternal covenant—a relationship that began with Abraham and continues today. Understanding this connection changes everything about how we view Israel and the Jewish people. It's not just about supporting a nation, it's about recognizing our spiritual family tree and the root that supports us all.
How Christians Connect to God's Chosen People
Blessing for Those Who Bless Israel
This powerful principle, rooted in God's covenant with Abraham, demonstrates the importance of standing with Israel. As Christians, we can align ourselves with God's plan by actively supporting and praying for the Jewish people. In doing so,we position ourselves to receive the blessings God has promised to those who honor His chosen nation.
Genesis 12:3 - God promises to bless those who bless Israel.
A Debt of Gratitude
In standing with Israel, we celebrate our shared roots and the enduring legacy of God's work through His chosen people. As Christians, we owe an immense debt of gratitude to the Jewish people for their role in preserving and passing down these sacred truths. Through their faithfulness, often in the face of great adversity, they have been instrumental in bringing the knowledge of God to the world.
Romans 9:4-5, 15:27 - The very foundations of our faith—the patriarchs and matriarchs, the covenants, the prophets, and the Torah—all come through Israel.
An Irrevocable Calling
As Christians, we must recognize the ongoing validity of God's covenant with Israel and their central role in His redemptive plan. By supporting Israel,we affirm our belief in God's faithfulness and the immutability of His Word. We demonstrate our trust in His ability to fulfill His purposes and bring about the ultimate restoration of His chosen people.
Psalm 105:8-10, Jeremiah 31:33 - The covenant God made with Abraham and his descendants is eternal, and remains unbroken.
Israel's Prophesied Ingathering
By standing with Israel during this prophetic time, we demonstrate our belief in the promises of God and our confidence in His ability to bring about the full restoration of His people to their Promised Land.
Amos 9:14-15, Ezekiel 37:21-22, & Genesis 35:11 - God has repeatedly promised to bring the Jewish people back to their land, as foretold in numerous Scriptures.
The Restoration of Jewish Sovereignty
As Christians, we have the unique opportunity to live in a time when we can witness the fulfillment of biblical prophecy firsthand. By supporting Israel and recognizing the significance of her restoration, we align ourselves with God's prophetic timeline and gain deeper appreciation for His sovereign control over history.
Jeremiah 31:38-40; Ezekiel 11:17 - In 1967, Jewish sovereignty over the holy city of Jerusalem was restored when Israel reclaimed the city during the Six-Day War.
Comforting God's Chosen People
As a Christian, we can be a source of strength and hope for the Jewish people as they navigate the challenges of protecting their nation and securing its future amid ongoing attacks by their enemies. By standing with Israel, we demonstrate our obedience to God's call and our willingness to be used by Him to bless and uplift His chosen people. We become partners in their journey of restoration and witnesses to the transformative power of God's love and grace.
Isaiah 49:22 - As Christians, we are called to comfort and assist the Jewish people as they return to their God-given land.
Confronting the anti-Semitic Past
By supporting Israel and standing against anti-Semitism, we commit to righting the wrongs of history and fostering understanding and respect between Christians and Jews, continuing the bridge-building work The Fellowship began more than 40 years ago, and demonstrating unity and love with our Jewish brothers and sisters.
Romans 11:17-18 - The apostle Paul described Judaism as the “root” of Christianity and defined the proper attitude of Gentiles toward Jews as one of humility and love.
