God’s Love Endures Forever

Yael Eckstein giving thanks for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving isn’t observed in Israel, but it is still one of my favorite holidays, and I have many fond memories of it from growing up in the U.S.

This year, Thanksgiving is tinged with sadness, for me, and for all of us in Israel. We will think of the brutal attacks of October 7 that forever changed us. We will think of the lives lost, and the families in sorrow. We will think of the Israeli hostages still cruelly held in Gaza, and a war that goes on today.

Yet, I remember that the Bible tells us to “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1). His love endures forever … not just yesterday, but today, and tomorrow. Not just in good times, but in bad. Not just in times of peace, but in times of war.

And so, this Thanksgiving, I will give thanks. I am thankful for Israel’s brave army, for our strong leadership, and for God’s miraculous provision even in times of uncertainty, fear, and war. I am so thankful that me and my family are able to live in Israel – I don’t take it for granted, even for a moment. I am grateful for you, our Christian friends, who stand firmly with Israel and the Jewish people. And I am grateful for the biblical prophecy I see being fulfilled every day.

I can’t express how much your love, support, and solidarity mean to us. May you be richly blessed this Thanksgiving, and be comforted and sustained that God’s love endures forever – through all things.

With blessings from the Holy Land,
