Prayers and Fast for the Vulnerable of Israel
The Fellowship | May 2, 2016
Enemies surround the people of Israel on every side, with acts of terrorism, hatred, and shouts for their annihilation. And at a time when the threat seems perhaps more intense than ever before, we invite you to “raise your voice like a trumpet” for Israel.
We invite you to join The Fellowship in a time of prayer and provision for Israel and Jews around the world. This special season of prayer and fasting is described in Isaiah 58:6 – 11. In this passage, God revealed the elements of the type of fast that is pleasing to Him (v. 7):
- Sharing food with the hungry
- Sheltering the homeless
- Clothing the naked
As we offer prayer and provision for Israel, we ask you to lift up and care for vulnerable Jews around the world by praying for:
- Fellowship aliyah efforts as we rescue Jews from countries where they are in danger and bring them to Israel
- Elderly Jews, including thousands of Holocaust survivors, who continue to face hardship, hunger, and dire poverty, and
- Hundreds of thousands of Jews who do not have food, a safe place to live, or critical medicines
And when we take compassionate action and care for the Jewish people, the blessing of Isaiah 58 promises:
v. 8: You will be a light in darkness and experience rapid recovery; your righteousness will be proclaimed, and God’s glory will protect you
v. 9: The Lord will manifest His presence in your life
v. 10: Your gloom will lift, producing a better attitude toward life, and
v. 11: God will guide you and satisfy your needs, and you will have divine strength.
Today, we ask that you prayerfully consider a monthly gift of $58 or more to provide much-needed food, clothing, and lifesaving medicines to impoverished Jews in Israel, the former Soviet Union, and around the world.
