Jordan River in the Galilee, 1955

“Why, Jordan, did you turn back?
Why, mountains, did you leap like rams,
you hills, like lambs?

“Tremble, earth, at the presence of the LORD,
at the presence of the God of Jacob”
(Psalm 114:5-7)

This classic nature photograph taken in 1955 could be anywhere picturesque. But it’s not just anywhere. This is the Holy Land. This fisherman enjoys the Jordan River – the same Jordan River crossed by the Israelites thousands of years before – against the backdrop of the mountains of the Galilee. Shabbat shalom, friends.
