Photo Friday: In the Beginning
Stand for Israel | October 9, 2020
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1)
So begins God’s Word.
And so, as the Jewish people celebrate Simchat Torah (in Hebrew, “rejoicing in the Torah”) beginning Saturday at sundown, they start at the beginning of the Bible, resetting the yearly reading of the Torah from Genesis. This year, the celebrations will be different, as the coronavirus pandemic has again gripped the Holy Land. But no doubt there will be the same love and joy for God’s Word as seen in this photo taken in Ramat Gan, Israel, in 1974, as a rabbi and young boy rejoice in the Torah. Shabbat shalom, friends.
