The Fellowship-supported WIZO’s five youth villages in Afula, Israel, specialize in rescuing disadvantaged youth, giving them a home, and providing them with social and educational programs to help them stay on track with their peers.

The need for this program is high. In Israel, approximately 345,000 youth are categorized as at-risk youth. As a result of personal circumstances, these children often have severe challenges in addition to behavioral, academic, and social difficulties.

Without intervention, these youth will continue their downward plunge. With no structure, support system, or encouragement, they feel lost.

However, thanks to your support, WIZO Youth Village, which is home to youth from disadvantaged or dysfunctional families, just finished renovating one of their dormitories that houses 44 youth. This facility will provide a nurturing environment and open doors for discovering new talents, interests, and friends.

“You might think of a dormitory room as the bare minimum. But in truth, it means the world to a newly arrived teen,” says the youth village director. “It sends the message that we care about them, that they have a space that is their very own to adjust to the new surroundings, to their peers and to themselves. Good housing is the essential foundation to feeling confident and secure.”
