Jerusalem – God’s Holy City

Old City in Jerusalem Israel

Jerusalem. Center of the world, holy city of God, the place where all things began and history is destined to conclude. It figures prominently in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It has been the subject of literary works from William Shakespeare and John Milton to Mark Twain and Saul Bellow.

For Jews, it is the heart of our nation, of our people, of our faith. For Christians, it is where Jesus walked the streets and taught in the Temple. It is where the early followers of Jesus gathered, giving birth to the church. It is the city that both Christian and Jew look toward for the final days to be ushered in, and where God will establish His eternal kingdom.

In this month’s Limmud study, explore the eternal city of Jerusalem and its spiritual significance. We will study its biblical roots and God’s plans for her future. Jerusalem has been described as the “eye of the universe.” With all that’s happening on the global stage, there has never been a more important time to understand the significance of this holy city than now.
