Honoring a Man of Faith

Did you know that God’s commandment to “Honor your father and your mother” (Exodus 20:12) is the FIRST commandment tied to a promise? The New Testament quotes this verse and promises that it “may go well with you” and that you will have a “long life on the earth” (Ephesians 6:3).

In Judaism, it is taught that you don’t sit in your father’s chair. It’s a sign of respect and a physical way to follow God’s commandment to “honor your mother and father.” This biblical mandate for both Christians and Jews took on a new meaning for Yael Eckstein when she joined The Fellowship and her abba (father), Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, took on the role of mentor and boss.

For the last 15 years, Yael honored her father by sitting on the other side of his desk and chair, allowing his wisdom to shape her into the woman and leader she is today.

Now, because of your commitment to blessing Israel and her people, she is able to honor her father by sitting IN his chair and carrying on his legacy into the next 36 years, helping Christians and Jews fulfill their biblical mandate to bless Israel and her people. You further the mission that Rabbi Eckstein dedicated his life to and help countless Jewish people in great need.
