After a suspected gas attack killed at least 72 in northern Syria this week, both Israel and the U.S. have called for immediate action from the U.N. Security Council. Israeli President Reuven Rivlin condemned the attack, comparing it to the Holocaust, saying “We know all too well how dangerous silence can be, and we cannot remain mute.”

Also this week in Israel in the News:

  • The U.N. recently held a summit on the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, in an effort to combat this anti-Israel campaign. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Nikki Haley, vowed that “the United States has Israel’s back.”
  • A prominent lawyer and pro-Israel advocate, Alan Dershowitz, has said that President Donald Trump now appears to be favoring a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
  • With Passover beginning on Monday at sundown, The Fellowship is partnering with Yad B’Yad (Hand-in-Hand) to deliver more than 4,000 food boxes with items needed for a seder meal to needy elderly and families in Israel.

This week’s Israel in the News Perspective features The Fellowship‘s founder and President Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein on our response to the Syrian attacks.
