Both President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are calling for a major overhaul of the Iran Nuclear Deal — or its demise. While hosting French President Emmanuel Macron this week, President Trump said that unless France and other European allies fix “the terrible flaws in the Iran deal by May 12,” he will restore U.S. sanctions on Iran. This would deal a severe blow to the agreement.

Also this week in Israel in the News:

  • The Washington Post is reporting that Iran continues to edge closer to a conflict with Israel, following a missile strike allegedly carried out by the Jewish state against Iranian positions within Syria two weeks ago.
  • Nine Israeli high school students participating in a pre-military academy were killed when flash floods caused by torrential rains swept them away. The teens were hiking in a riverbed near the Dead Sea. One teen was reported still missing.
  • Tensions continue to increase along the Israeli-Gaza border, with Palestinian protesters attempting to storm the border fence. Four protesters were killed in these skirmishes as Israeli forces have been forced to open fire.
  • Palestinian protesters have developed a new tactic — flying fiery kites over the border fence in hopes that the kites will land in Israel and start a fire. Local farmers in the area have reported extensive property damage caused by the kites.
  • Meanwhile, the terror group Hamas is using Palestinian children as human shields, recruiting children to throw Molotov cocktails or sabotage the border fence.
