Terrorist Rocket Attack from Gaza Disrupts Netanyahu Rally

During a recent spate of terrorist rocket attacks from Gaza earlier this week, one rocket disrupted a political election rally hosted by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The prime minister was rushed to safety, and Israel’s Iron Dome Missile Defense System successfully downed the rockets.

  • Pending his re-election in next week’s snap election, Netanyahu says he intends to apply Israeli sovereignty to the Jordan Valley. Israel has occupied the valley, just east of the West Bank, since the 1960s.
  • Iran this week announced plans to violate a third term of the 2015 nuclear agreement by injecting uranium gas into its advanced centrifuges.
  • Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the White House is committed to making sure Iran does not get a nuclear weapon.
  • As the U.S. commemorated the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, Israel hosted a police delegation from the U.S. to take part in a nine-day series of discussions and commemoration ceremonies with their Israeli counterparts.
